"The Singular Affair of the Missing Ball"

A Sherlock Whippet Adventure

Written and Illustrated by
John Semper Jr.

“The Singular Affair of the Missing Ball” is the first adventure of a picture-book series featuring the world-famous canine detective, Sherlock Whippet. In this humorous tale, Sherlock Whippet is called to action by a hound who has lost his ball while playing a game of “fetch.” The consulting detective quickly embarks upon solving the puzzling mystery with the aid of his companion and biographer, a jovial boxer named Dr. Dogson. Together, this dynamic doggy duo follow the clues which lead them to one inescapable fact – that the ball’s disappearance must be the nefarious scheme of the evil Professor Murray R. Catty, the notorious cat burglar of London!

Created by Emmy-nominated TV animation writer-producer John Semper Jr. (“Spider-Man: The Animated Series” , “Jay Jay the Jet Plane," and “Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock”), this humorous parody is cleverly written and illustrated in the style of the Victorian “penny-dreadful” or “dime novels” popular from the middle to the close of the 19th century. It’s a treat for children of all ages as well as for adults who enjoy mysteries, Sherlock Holmes' adventures, dogs, cats, whippets and seriously absurd humor.

"The Singular Affair of the Missing Ball" is a 70 page softcover book, lavishly illustrated in color. The price is $24.95.
